DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO GROTTO BAY

You’ll find Grotto Bay about mid-island, in the little settlement of Salt Pond.  We’re about 14 miles (22.5 km) north of the Deadman’s Cay Airport and 22 miles (35.4 km) south of the Stella Maris Airport.  Both airports have phones for making free local calls.

We can arrange rental cars from both airports and taxi service from Stella Maris Airport.

There are no traffic lights on the island, no stop signs along the Queen’s Highway and hardly any traffic anywhere!

Just remember to:  Drive on the LEFT  !!!

FROM DEADMAN’S CAY AIRPORT

  • Drive out of the airport to the Queen’s Highway and turn right at the stop sign, heading north.  Remember to stay on the LEFT.

  • Drive about 14 miles (22 km) to the settlement of Salt Pond – approximately a 20-minute drive.

  • When you arrive in Salt Pond, you’ll pass a gas station, the Cultural Center and Regatta Site and the Tourist Office, all on the left.

  • Go up a slight rise and on the left look for a telephone pole with a colorful flag and a road sign for Grotto Bay Boulevard.  On the ground is a large rock in the shape of a fish that reads GROTTO BAY.

  • If you see a big church on the right, you have gone too far.

  • Turn left and drive a down the short dirt road.

  • After you arrive please toot your horn a few times.  Park in front if you're staying in the Beach House or drive down the road toward the beach for the Studios.  You will see parking signs in both areas.

FROM STELLA MARIS AIRPORT

  • Drive out of the airport, following the white triangles that line the road.

  • At the intersection where the white triangles end, turn left.

  • At the second intersection, turn left (you’ll pass the sign for Stella Maris Resort) and drive to the Queen’s Highway, at the end of the road.

  • Turn left onto the Queen’s Highway – Remember to stay on the LEFT

  • Drive south about 22 miles (35.4 km) to the settlement of Salt Pond.

  • In Salt Pond, you’ll pass Hillside Grocery (on the left), Fox Auto (on the right), a Marine Store and Marcie’s Beauty Shop (on the left), then a large white church (on the left).

  • Drive slowly and look (on the right) for a blue house and on the ground, beside a dirt road, is a rock in the shape of a fish that says GROTTO BAY.  You will also see a colorful flag and a sign for Grotto Bay Boulevard on a telephone pole.  Turn right and drive down the bumpy dirt road.

  • After you arrive please toot your horn a few times.  Park in front if you're staying in the Beach House or drive down the road toward the beach for the Studios.  You will see parking signs in both areas.
